This year’s SCELT & The Bridge forum 2026 brought together an inspiring community of teachers, trainers, publishers, and educational partners for two packed days of learning, reflection, and exchange. With over 260 registered participants and only a handful unable to attend in the end, the turnout exceeded our expectations. We were also delighted to welcome many colleagues who registered directly on the day, which added to the vibrant atmosphere across both conference days.
The conference opened with an opening plenary by Zuzana Labašová, who set the tone with a powerful reminder of what makes us stronger as educators and as a community. Throughout the programme, participants could choose from a rich range of talks and workshops across multiple strands, combining practical classroom ideas with wider reflections on resilience, wellbeing, inclusion, and the evolving role of AI in ELT.
Another highlight of Friday was the plenary by Piotr Steinbrich, whose session on classroom communication resonated strongly with participants. His ability to connect theory with real classroom experience made the session both thought-provoking and immediately relevant.
On Saturday, Christina Gkonou invited us to reimagine teacher resilience through reflection and community, offering space to pause and reconnect with why support networks matter so much in our profession. The conference closed with a plenary by Russell Stannard, who explored where AI is having the most meaningful impact in education, grounding innovation in realistic classroom practice.
Beyond the sessions themselves, what truly stood out was the sense of openness and collegiality. Conversations continued in corridors, over coffee, during lunch breaks, and well into the evening events. The energy in the rooms made it clear that this was not just about listening to talks, but about learning with and from one another.
We were also proud to take several sustainable steps during the event. Leftover food from the conference was donated to DePaul Slovakia, helping support people experiencing homelessness. Wherever possible, we used reusable or recyclable materials, and we are grateful to participants for embracing these efforts with understanding and care.
Presentation materials from speakers will gradually be made available on our website, as many participants asked for access after the event. Details will be shared once everything is collected and organised.
A huge thank-you goes to our plenary speakers, session presenters, sponsors, exhibitors, and volunteers, whose time, energy, and goodwill made the conference possible. We are equally grateful to every participant who joined us, asked questions, shared ideas, and helped create such a supportive and engaging atmosphere.
If you have any questions or would like more information about the conference or upcoming SCELT events, feel free to get in touch. We already look forward to continuing the conversation and meeting again soon.
Thank you for being part of SCELT & The Bridge forum 2026.
