This October, Zuzana Lehotai and Natalie Lackovic represented SCELT at Bloom, the 35th TESOL Hungary Conference in Siófok.

The programme featured over fifty sessions, including plenaries by Jon Hird, Piotr Steinbrich, Éva Illés, and Luis Javier Pentón Herrera on topics from spoken grammar to teacher reflection and well-being.

SCELT’s workshop Engaging Narrative Writing: Spooky Storytelling with Students, led by Natalie, showed how creative writing can enhance language learning. Participating teachers experimented with hooks, suspense, and sensory details, creating short spooky pieces and leaving with practical handouts ready to use in class.

Thank you, TESOL Hungary, for the warm welcome and excellent organisation. We returned with new energy and plenty of ideas to try out in our classrooms.
