IATEFL 2026

Brighton reflections from Jana Ftacnik Pastorkova 

IATEFL 2026 has come to an end, and Janka is sending us her final observations and highlights from Brighton, standing in the beautiful Royal Pavilion Garden, with one of the city’s most iconic landmarks behind her.

During the conference, she attended more than 45 sessions, met inspiring teachers, trainers and ELT professionals, and brought back a great deal of food for thought. It was intense in the best possible way: full of ideas, conversations, questions and moments that remind us why professional communities matter.

And this is also where SCELT comes in.

Being a member of SCELT is not just about belonging to an association. It is about being connected to a wider teaching community, hearing about opportunities, meeting colleagues, sharing ideas and sometimes even finding yourself at an international event like IATEFL.

Next year, this could be YOU.

With SCELT elections coming next month, now is a good time to join, get involved and have a say in the future of our community.
